This isn’t just a business story, it’s a real, honest look at what it takes to build something from nothing, make mistakes, learn fast, and keep going when giving up would feel easier.
How It Started: Taking a Risk With No Experience
At just 19 years old, I opened my first salon with no qualifications, no business knowledge, and no real plan, just determination.
That decision quickly led me into around £50,000 (Dh300,000) of debt.
Looking back, it was risky. But it was also the start of everything.
The Reality of Debt in Business
One of the biggest lessons I learned early on was that passion alone isn’t enough, you need strategy, financial awareness, and patience.
I invested heavily into trends without fully understanding them, which contributed to my debt.
But I made a decision:
Not paying it off was not an option.
I gave myself a five-year goal to clear that debt, and I did.
The Turning Point: Working ON the Business, Not IN It
The biggest shift in my journey came when I stopped being fully booked on treatments and started stepping into the CEO role.
That’s when everything changed.
As I began to:
- Build a team
- Focus on growth
- Improve systems
- Think long-term
The business started generating more consistent income and real scalability.
This is something I now teach all of my clients, because it’s the difference between being self-employed and building a business that actually gives you freedom.
The Lessons That Changed Everything
Looking back, the mistakes I made were some of my biggest teachers.
1. You Don’t Need to Be Perfect to Start
I had no experience, no clients, and no roadmap, but I started anyway.
2. You Must Learn Fast
When you’re in a position where failure isn’t an option, you figure things out quickly.
3. Leadership is Everything
As my business grew, I had to learn how to lead, not just be liked. That shift allowed me to grow a team of over 45 people across multiple locations.
4. Your Role Has to Evolve
You cannot grow a business if you stay stuck doing treatments forever.
This feature isn’t just about my journey, it represents what’s possible in the beauty industry.
So many salon owners:
- Feel stuck on the tools
- Struggle financially
- Don’t understand their numbers
- Are overwhelmed trying to do everything
But with the right strategy, support, and mindset, everything can change.
From Salon Owner to Business Mentor
Today, I use everything I’ve learned, the mistakes, the lessons, the wins, to help other salon owners build profitable, scalable businesses.
Because I’ve been where they are.
And I know what it takes to get them where they want to be.

If you’re currently in a place where your business feels hard, overwhelming, or financially stressful, just remember Where you are now doesn’t define where you can go. Your current situation is just part of your story, not the end of it.
And if I can go from £50K in debt to building a multi-million business… so can you.
